It is important to know how many calories you burn at rest, and this is called basil metabolic rate, (BMR). Your BMR covers about 60% of your daily caloric burn. The amount of lean muscle mass you have will dictate your average daily BMR.

The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your BMR will be. On average women have a BMR of 1400 to 1500 calories per day and for men on average it is 1600 to 1800 calories per day. If your goal is trying to maintain your weight but you are gaining weight, then you should lower your daily calorie intake. And you should increase your calorie burn by being more physically active.

If you are someone who has problems controlling your appetite, the best way to curb your appetite to help you maintain your weight is eating more fruits and vegetables while drinking more water.

Fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and low in calories. Some good fruits to eat are bananas, apples, oranges, strawberries, peaches, grapes, etc. Some good vegetables to eat are broccoli, spinach, green beans, asparagus, etc.

A good tip to help suppress your appetite is drinking up to 8 glasses of water per day. If you can combine drinking 8 glasses of water daily and eating fruit and vegetables with every meal this will help suppress your appetite. And it willl make you eat less food. And the result of this is optimal maintenance of your weight.
