Various studies show that drinking coffee can lower the risk of early death. There is a 2012 research study that was done in the New England Journal Of Medicine on coffee consumption that followed over 400,000 people over a 12-to-13-year period.

The ages of this group were 50 to 71 years old. And the result of this study showed that those who drank the most coffee was significantly less likely to have died during this 12-to-13-year study period.  Coffee drinkers that drank 4 to 5 cups of coffee per day had a 16% reduced risk of early death.

The same study revealed that drinking 6 cups per day provided no additional benefit. But drinking one cup per day which would be considered moderate consumption is associated with 5 to 6% lower risk of early death.

Other studies have shown that people who drink coffee are happier and have a lower risk of depression and suicide. Other diseases it raises the risk of is Alzheimer’s disease, Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, etc.
